Pascal
The SI unit of pressure — 1 newton per square metre.
Definition
The pascal (Pa) is the SI derived unit of pressure. It equals one newton per square metre (N/m²). Standard atmospheric pressure is 101,325 Pa (101.325 kPa). Named after the French mathematician and physicist Blaise Pascal.
Formula
1 Pa = 1 N/m² = 1 kg/(m·s²)
Examples
- Atmospheric pressure at sea level ≈ 101,325 Pa (1 atm).
- A car tyre is typically inflated to 200,000–250,000 Pa (2–2.5 bar).
